Something Different and Great Quality
My second visit to the fort for Sunday lunch on the occasion of my husband's birthday today. This is a great day out - not just a Sunday lunch - from meeting at the Departure Lounge late morning and the boat trip out to the fort, champagne reception with canapes followed by a guided tour around the fort. The staff are wonderfully friendly and efficient and all work so hard to ensure that everyone is happy. The food is great - a lovely roast with a good selection of vegetables and excellent wine list. The rooms look wonderful so I would imagine that a stay here would be fabulous.

Don't row the boat ashore
This was the annual outing for 7 couples that plan to meet in a new and different venue in turn, each trying to improve on the last year.
To say that this will take some beating next year is an understatement as it was such a unique venue, royally appointed, complimented by a really great team of people that couldn't do enough for you.
It's the true uniqueness of the place with all it's rich history really did it for us.
Even if you can't get there to stay overnight - try a Sunday lunch and a mosey around you won't be disappointed !

WOW .............. start to finish
Words can not describe this amazing place.....just check out the website.......
Went for a romantic night away with my husband, not disappointed one bit.
Service & attention to detail sets this place apart from anywhere else, staff are genuinely happy to help, without being in your face.
Stayed in the Nelson suite, the biggest bedroom in the world!!
From hot tub under the stars, to rum tots on arrival, to champagne, fantastic food....you would be a fool not to go.
Yes it's expensive.....but you can honestly say it is worth every £, and you cant say that for a lot of places!!

What a place I took a friend for a surprise and what a fantastic place it was. The food is excellent, well prepared, flavoured and served. The rooms are good , interesting and spacious. The service is faultless. Overall a great and unusual place to stay. The boat there and back is pleasant and the lift to the fort in bad weather is interesting. Worth spending the money for a stay in the middle of the Solent.

Such a Different Experience
Had a fantastic time. Went for husbands 60th Birthday and kept it a secret until we got to the 'departure lounge'. From the tea and coffee in the lounge, the 'tot' of rum before we left for the fort all added to the adventure. We were lucky the sea was calm and had no problems getting over to the fort where we were handed a glass of champagne. Our luggage was taken to our rooms whilst we had a tour of the fort. Very entertaining! Be careful in the bolt hole. It was very wet when one of the guests tried it so we gave that a miss. Lunch is served buffet style in the crows nest with fantastic views all round.
The rooms are lovely and huge beds that were so comfortable it was like sleeping in a marshmallow. Bathrooms were clean and nice and warm. Gowns were provided which we used for going up to the hot tub and sauna.
Then it was time for tea and coffee and a cake that deserved to be 'mention in dispatches'.
There is time to explore the fort and you are encouraged to go everywhere and open any cupboard or box. You never know what you might find.
Then it was time for canapes with more champagne. The photographs don't do the fort justice, it's an amazing place to stay and it is an experience more than a hotel.
Then it was time for dinner. We all had our own table, beautifully set out a looking out towards Portsmouth and the Spinnaker Tower. Dinner was beautifully served and everything was cooked well. The chocolate fondant was to die for.
After dinner we met around the fire pit and toasted marshmallows. A bit later think it was getting on for midnight we adjourned to the hot tub for an hour. Then to sleep.
Next morning another huge breakfast served in the Officers Mess and back to dry land.
We had a great time and would love to go back with a few friends sometime.

Birthday lunch with a difference! Every aspect of the day was handled with great professionalism. Meeting & Greeting in Gosport Ferry, to and from the fort, Champagne reception, Tour of the fort and of course an excellent lunch! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves on a great day out!

An AmaZing Experience
We have just returned from an overnight at the Fort. There were seventeen of us using the Fort exclusively. The whole experience is one that I will not forget for a very long time. The rooms and all areas have been tastefully decorated the food was in abundance and very well prepared and cooked. They lit the fire pit for us and we then at around 11pm on an October evening used the fire pit and sauna that and a glass of champagne life doesn't get any better. But above all I cannot praise the staff enough. From checking in at the marina to leaving after a wonderful cooked breakfast they are extremely attentive and knowledgeable about their hotel. Please accept a big thank you from us all.

A Place to Remember
Surprise 50th birthday weekend for our friend Allison, organised by her husband Steve, bravo! Everything was perfect, excellent food, excellent wine, amazing decoration in this ancient place. The staff, very friendly, has also been excellent, a lot of attention to detail. Great venue for a very memorable occasion.

Wow Wow Wow
Not often lost for words but Wow from start to finish. We have returned today from 24 hours exclusive use of the Fort for a friends surprise 50th birthday celebration and it was truly amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff (all of whom were very knowledgable), accommodation, facilities, food etc all excellent. As a sailor, I have often looked at the forts when sailing in the Solent and was aware that Spitbank Fort was now open for use but never imagined that it was going to be as good as it was. Cannot recommend this amazing venue enough.
A First Class Venue
We have just returned from a weekend at the most amazing party venue ever...Spitbank Fort. What an amazing experience. The Fort was booked a surprise for my husbands 40th Birthday and it never failed to impress - from the moment we arrived our party of 18 were made to feel like we were living a dream. Plenty of free parking and a couple of tots of rum and we were whisked over on the launch to our own private island where we were greeted with a warm reception and a cold glass of champagne. A tour of the Fort ending with a delicious buffet lunch in the Crows Nest and an afternoon spent enjoying a dip in the 18 person heated pool surrounded by the beautiful Solent scenery and views over Portsmouth. Afternoon tea and cakes left us wondering how we would ever manage our dinner and survive dancing to the small hours in the Crow Nest.
The staff were friendly and attentive but discreet allowing us to wonder around and explore to our hearts content but always ready to refill an empty glass of bubbly. The rooms were enormous and elegantly furnished. Beautiful fluffy towels, divine bed linen and gorgeous bath products all added to the five star experience. The food and service was outstanding and I cannot thank Mark and his team enough for an amazing first class experience which we will all be talking about for years to come.

Mark and his team looked after our party flawlessly - Nothing was too much trouble, our needs we anticipated and we were made to feel very special indeed! From the check in in historic buildings with rum served in 150 year old silver to the private launch being lifted out of the water James Bond style, to the vast and beautifully restored bedrooms, to the exquisite food, Spitbank Fort is an absolutely amazing experience that I can't recommend highly enough.
Adam kept our glasses full, even in the hot tub overlooking the Solent and Natalia never missed a request- It was like saying goodby to family as we waved goodbye from the launch on the way home after all too short a night on the Fort.
We will just have to come up with an excuse to go back!
What a Location

You won't regret it
I cannot thank you enough for an unforgettable experience sailing with my team on the Solent and overnight at Spitbank Fort which was amazing.
The Clarenco staff looked after us every step of the way.
For anyone contemplating this as a team venture then I cannot recommend it highly enough – you won’t regret it!

Best Kept Secret
What can I say, the most amazing location, superb food, and wonderful staff who really made this surprise visit extra special and turned our stay into a trip that my family and friends will never forget. It really was wonderful and the look on everyone's face when they walked into the fort was priceless.

Out Of This World
This trip was a birthday and Christmas present for my brother who is autistic. I knew it was expensive and didn't really know what to expect and I have to say from the initial meet and greet at the departure lounge to the boat trip out and the guided tour the day couldn't ever have been started better. the facilities, food, care, rooms, attention by all the staff including the friendly cheerful way all the staff behaved was a massive credit to this company.
I mentioned my brother’s health issue as his speech can be hard to understand and not once did I see anyone not take time and care to explain things to him and explain what was going on.
There were a couple of minor problems caused by miscommunication but these were dealt with promptly and with courtesy. In short this was worth every penny of the cost and I can’t thank or praise Mark and his team enough for their professional courteous and caring attitude.
An Experience We Will Never Forget
This has to be on your list of places to stay. You are taken by a boat. The staff asked us what we wanted in advance to everything was catered for. We stayed for two nights as a romantic getaway. The views were amazing. The food was 1st class. The staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We are planning to go back. I don't want to say too much as it will spoil it but you have not been in a Jacuzzi until you have been in this one! Just such an amazing experience.
An Amazing Experience
I took my husband to Spitbankfort Fort for an overnight break for his birthday. We knew from the reviews that our stay would be good, but we were overwhelmed by how amazing the whole experience was. The fort is stunning, the staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming, the food was fantastic and the rooms were superb. We had ridiculously big grins on our faces from the moment we arrived at the departure lounge to the minute we, very reluctantly, left. Everything about our stay was fantastic and I cannot recommend Spitbank Fort enough. We had a perfect stay there and it has given us memories that we will cherish for a long time to come.
Sunday Lunch in Style
An absolute first class experience from start to finish. The staff are so welcoming and make sure your day is perfect. Champagne and canopes on arrival at the fort give you a chance to relax and settle in. The tour is very interesting and gives you a chance to see some of the bedrooms to tempt you back for an over night stay. Lunch was amazing and although its a shame there aren't individual tables it is so well planned that you soon forget that. We were blessed with beautiful weather and made the most of the stunning views and relaxed outside and watched the world go by.
The service, food, location and history make this an amazing deal. We would definitely come back.
Paradise in The Solent
Our experience at Spitbank was literally PARADISE on earth/sea, from start to finish! Wonderful welcome and rum-tasting, fun boat trip out to the fort, truly helpful, friendly, knowledgeable staff throughout for whom nothing was too much trouble (despite being on duty for long hours - in fact do they ever sleep?), excellent historic tour of the fort, WONDERFUL food at every (frequent!) meal (thank you chef & team!), brilliant activities ranging from the very competitive treasure hunt (go the girls!!) to rib ride to sauna, hot tub, fishing, fire pit..... Luxurious, clean bedrooms (thanks Dee & team), lovely toiletries, great interior design throughout the property, quirky touches, board games, books..... Simply the best 24 hours ever - thanks so much to manager Mark, James & Kyle & all involved. We didn't want to leave!
We had Sunday lunch on the fort. I booked this as a surprise for my husbands birthday and I am so glad I did.
What an amazing place, from the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome, all the staff were great.
We loved every minute of our experience here, the food was fantastic. We would love to stay here for a night.
You really must go you won't be dissapointed, we hope we can return soon so we can stay.
Thank you all at Spitbank Fort.

Faultless Fort Visit
Much, much more than just a hotel, if you want something truly different, luxurious, special and unforgettable give this a go!
Well beyond any expectations, Mark and all the team made this an occasion we will always remember. Our room was fantastic, roomy and extremely comfortable. The food was out of this world. The team were discreetly on hand at all times, with friendly advice and knowledge, more like old friends.
Thanks to everyone for a fantastic weekend!

An experience not to be missed
Spitbank fort is the most incredible venue I have ever stayed at. The whole experience starts at the departure lounge with Mark welcoming you to what you are about to be a part of. We had 2 days aboard the Fort and were treated to 6 star treatment, the whole crew were very attentive but no way intrusive to all our needs. The food was out of this world more than enough for 17 people, the fire pit gave a warm welcome and a true outside feel taking you back also the tub is worth a visit.
I wanted a venue where music and fun did not stop at the given midnight, this venue can go for as long as your guess can stand :)
Mark, James and Nick a very sincere thank you for an unforgettable 60th Birthday bash
many thanks Roger

"Spitbank Fort is truly special"
I just wanted to say what a fabulous time I had on Spitbank Fort. It really is an amazing place, magical even and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there - I did not want to leave!
I wanted to congratulate the Deputy Manager, James and his colleagues for a most memorable day - they were all so very friendly and lovely people and most attentive that I really felt welcome.
Clarenco should be very proud of their achievements as Spitbank Fort is truly special and the work you have carried out on restoring it is outstanding.
I hope to return again sometime soon...!
Thank you again and very best wishes,

"Our guests were amazed"
For those of you with vision, this is it! Our event was fantastic and all of our guests were amazed. Service first class, food 6 star, quality second to none.

"The package was superb"
Very rarely does a hotel/restaurant exceed expectation. The whole package was superb. The main point was the outstanding finishing and decoration & soft furnishings. The progression from 'basement' up to the crows nest was brilliant. Not forgetting the staff. Wonderfully engaging team.
